Melbourne Weekly Cover Story

I know, I know. I go completely overboard when it comes to parties but I love it! It's a chance for me to spread my creative wings and do something fun. This week Melbourne Weekly featured Mimi's carnival party and it looked so nice!

Pinwheels make an impression

It feels so nice when someone tells you you've done a great job. It feels particularly good when it comes from an expert! My pinwheels received high praise from the Pinwheel master herself - Shana Dreher from Pinwhirls.

Mimi's party got a mention on her blog and her website!

Thanks Shana.

I 'Heart' surprises

It is very rare as an adult to be surprised but today, it happened. A little man knocked on my door with a parcel. I opened it up to find a special belated birthdy message from one of my favourite friends along with a little blue box. YES! The little blue box. Inside revealed a gorgeous heart luggage tag because 'she hearts me'. Awww. I feel so happy right now.

Mimi was keen to feel the love of the little blue box...in time Mimi. In time.

Thank you lovely lady. I heart you too!

Love Mae...

I purchased this some time ago and popped it away for a special occasion and what better reason to bring it out than to adorn the magical wardrobe. A dress up doll for the dress up cupboard.

These lovely wall stickers come from the fun and whimsical Mae. The best part about these stickers is that they are made of fabric and are totally removable and reusable! That means Mimi can stick and unstick to her hearts content.

We love our new dress up doll.

The magical wardrobe

Sometimes I find something, fall desperately in love with it and kick myself that I didn't buy two. One of those items was a dress up box in the shape of a house. It was perfect in every way. Big, safe, girly, fun. The only down side was that my cat decided it was great too (as a scratching pole). And with one little scratch it began to fall apart, slowly but surely.

I wish I was patient enough to simply make a new cover for it but I'm just not. And, so I began the painstaking journey of trying to replace it. Amazing how hard it it to find a nice dress up box with all the same pluses as this one.

With some inspiration from Suzi at Alannah Rose, I searched eBay for a gentlemans closet (the little wardrobes). With much joy I found one and it was delivered today - Yipee! It's almost perfect. When I find some time I will paint it white and scrawl a little whimsical saying across the front in a nice light pink cursive font. But for now, it's just dandy. Mimi thinks it's magical.

Needless to say, my little house has been folded down and packed away as a future project. I will (somehow) bring it back to life. I will.

HALLOWEEN...spoooooky!

A couple of years ago I came up with the idea of popping a note in our neighbour's letterboxes asking them to be part of Halloween Trick or Treating. I thought it would be a good idea to get those happy to be involved to hang a ribbon on their letterbox so we knew they were a 'Halloween Friendly' house. It worked!
It's our third year and we have families come from all over to join in. My mum has instigated the same idea in her street and her neighbourhood is abuzz.

Why not do the same in your street? It's a great way to get into the neighbourly spirit and show your kids a fun time.

A new resident

Someone new moved into our home last week. A very kind, special someone. She leaves us notes, makes our wishes come true and spreads magic dust all over our house. We're sure she is enjoying our gifts and drawings. Her name? Fairy Twinkle.

Mimi and Max were surprised and excited to find a magical little door on the morning of Mimi's birthday. They spent the entire morning trying to figure out if it was real and how it worked. Mimi tells us that not only does Fairy Twinkle live there, but so does The Cinderella.

This has to be the greatest gift I have ever given...an active imagination courtesy of a little door from Monkeytail and Wellington. LOVE IT!
